Well, capitalism is an economic system that allows primarily private rather than public ownership of wealth production.

Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, France are all capitalist societies. And I've lived and worked in three of them, spent time in all but Finland, studied up on their operation, economies, politics, etc.

The characteristics you ascribe to "capitalism" are absent or very muted in all of them.

These characteristics are, however, definitely present in spades in the USA.

I'm guessing you're and American and proceeding like most Americans to make uninformed judgments about almost anything as if the USA is the only place in the world.

Of course, I spend most of my time leveling that accusation at Americans on the right, since those are either the most benighted believers in America as the best and greatest and, and, and.

But it always saddens me to have to recognize that America has also lobotomized a large number of folks on the left.

And the biggest chunk seemingly removed from their thinking is that there is a world outside of the USA. Good, bad, and indifferent. And it's big problem for the prospect of America solving its problems.
