This is a mishmash. Here’s what’s called in history, a reference framework:

Until WW1, USA stayed wholly in its shores and did what every other country did, abuse its own citizens.

Then it got into the mess called WW2. Jeez. Shoulda stayed home, i suppose in your view of the world.

Then with the rise of totalitarian nuclear armed communism, the USA started getting involved all over the place to try to prevent the spread of that model. All of this was mostly well-intentioned but idiotic and poorly done.

Then, afterwards when the US failed, all those countries on the list you gave reverted to paragons of humane and political virtue. In other words, our efforts to turn them into something like a western liberal democracy failed/went awry/whatever. And they were better off.

So I have to think that you are content with our having failed in all these places with our presumed objective of making them into western liberal democracies.

RIGHT?
