The word I believe I used was “blackmail”. Of course, blackmail does not mean you take over a person’s entire life, just the parts you care about.

Take Tesla or Microstrategy to start. If these companies actually put their corporate treasury cash in BTC and other companies follow, this makes them vulnerable to being forced out of business or their stock prices to plummet if quietly or obliquely threatened.

Similarly, there are now Wall Street banks and other asset managers offering private and corporate clients to invest and trade crypto. Those operations then become similarly vulnerable.

When all this proceeds as if there is no problem, then it may not be the overall amount of money, but the kind of leverage that can still quietly bend the policies of these institutions and people to their will.

And, in the instance of another escalation of trade or corporate secrets conflict, the leverage can be applied selectively to manage outcomes.
