Saylor's product was crap when it came out. I was part of the team that tried to implement it. Maybe it's gotten better and this was a "Buy the Beta and get in on the next improvements sooner" play.

As for his crypto-beliefs...well, it's the usual stuff or worse.

"The bitcoin network keeps getting more energy efficient because of the relentless improvement in the semiconductors that power the bitcoin mining centres." This is basically nonsense. Yes, they improved from Satoshi's original dream of a global network of individuals. However, the Chinese designed ASICs have improved over NVIDIAs and AMDs. And all mining ops use only the ASICS. Unless new physics are invented, this is just another common crypto lie.

But where things go from fatuous to absurd is this remark (as if everyone is an idiot or believer):

"Bitcoin is bad for the environment in the same way Oranges, meat, buildings and cars are bad for the environment. They all use energy. In fact, hospitals use energy."

OH YEAH, we need crypto like we need any of these things. This is exactly the kind of mindless nonsense that most of the crypt space spouts.
