One feature of the crypto space is indisputable and this article is a perfect embodiment of this feature: Make Shit Up. You know, just lie.
This particular example would in any other world not even pass the archetypal laugh test:
“Most of the big fortunes accumulated over the past ten years were hammered together in the crypto industry.”
This is patently false and ridiculously easy to disprove. For example, according to Barron’s 412 billionaires were created in 2020 and only 17 of those had anything to do with crypto. The total number of billionaires in the world is 3,288. If there are only “dozens” of known and some number of unknown created by crypto in the last 10 years, then it would not be surprising if crypto as a sector created the least number of billionaires.
It is not unlikely that this writer is either non-existent as a person or quite possibly part of the vast influencer network that is run out of Russia or Kazakhstan or other former Soviet states where crypto is essential to carry out ransomware and other semi-state-sponsored acts.
