I am so sad to read this. Not because it says anything that has real truth. But because it's a pointless rant. You know, just like the ones we heard and still hear from the Right and from the PointlessRanterInChief who just was "democracied".

And what this piece and those on the right have in common is the intention to destroy democracy. The right does this by openly saying they want to be run by strong white men. And the "left" by trashing democracy outright.

Both of these have long traditions. The left either lied about or ignored the criminal gangs called "communist or socialist". And the right used the existence of the left to pursue its gangs/autocrats agendas.

It was all so simple then (now?) and you didn't have to think. And this now, sadly from an otherwise decently-inclined and talented writer, an indulgent thoughtless rant.

DEMOCRACY was never a state a final goal. It was and is a constant transition, a constant attempt and failure, attempt and succeed project. THIS IS HOW HUMAN SOCIETY HAS PROGRESSED to anything better. Nothing human arrives to perfection. It is a pursuit.

This latter is for the vast majority of human beings (clever, informed, or not) a very hard thing to accept. We want Nirvana, Heaven On Earth, etc. NOW. And if we don't get it, no matter how far it comes on the journey there, we get impatient and then start to destroy rather than do that REALLY HARD WORK to push it forward... which often is a fight just to keep it from falling too far back. And people get tired. And Jessica seems tired.

It should be a crime to say "Maybe we don't need a democracy". Because that is handing those who only want only for themselves what they want ...exactly what they want. And if you have been to and experienced the alternatives to "democracy", then you wouldn't think of saying such a thing. Terrible.
